Brother Rod Peterson for Polemarch

Theta Beta | Fall ‘96 | The 9Klub

| “Nature Boy”

Brotherhood and deference are commitments that transcends time, trials, and personal ambition. It is the foundation upon which Kappa Alpha Psi was built and the two forces that unite us across generations. I answered that call in Fall 1996, when I took my place among the distinguished men of  the Theta Beta Chapter at Austin Peay State University. As a proud member of the 9Klub, carrying the line name “Nature Boy,” I learned that true brotherhood is forged in adversity, strengthened through service, and defined by the integrity with which we lead.  That commitment has only deepened over the years, and for the last three years, I have had the privilege of serving as the Vice Polemarch of the Germantown(TN) Alumni Chapter—working side by side with my brothers to uphold our legacy and expand our impact.

Our vision for our chapter is clear—to fortify our bonds, uphold our legacy, and lead with integrity for sustained growth and impact.

  • Strengthening Brotherhood
Brotherhood is the lifeblood of our fraternity. A chapter is only as strong as the relationships between its members. I will work to deepen our connections through intentional programming, increased mentorship opportunities, and active engagement for every brother—new and old. We will create avenues for leadership development, professional networking, and personal enrichment, ensuring that every brother finds value in his membership and role in our chapter.

    • Undergraduate Support: Strengthening our support for Beta Mu is not just a commitment—it’s a responsibility. We will work to ensure they have the mentorship, resources, and opportunities needed to excel, fostering deeper connections between undergraduates and alumni through intentional engagement, professional development, and unwavering brotherhood. By investing in their success, we fortify the foundation of our chapter, uphold the legacy of Kappa Alpha Psi, and empower the next generation of leaders to carry our fraternity forward with excellence.

  • Honoring Tradition Through Deference
Our fraternity’s history is our guiding light—a legacy built on sacrifice, perseverance, and achievement. Honoring tradition means ensuring that we operate with the same level of excellence and integrity that has defined Kappa since 1911. This includes:

    • Strengthening our connection to senior brothers and ensuring their voices remain integral to our decision-making.

    • Preserving and elevating signature programs and rituals that reinforce the values that make us Kappa Men.

    • Ensuring that our protocols, processes, and expectations reflect the dignity and prestige of our fraternity.

  • Leading with Integrity for the Advancement of Our Chapter
Leadership is not about titles or personal gain—it is about service, responsibility, and setting the standard for others to follow. As Polemarch,  Iwill ensure that every decision we make is transparent, every action we take is strategic, and every initiative we launch serves to advance our chapter. We will:

    • Implement initiatives that drive measurable impact—whether in community engagement, professional development, or chapter growth.

    • Strengthen financial and operational oversight, ensuring sustainability and accountability.

    • Foster an environment where every brother is heard, respected, and empowered to contribute to the chapter’s success.

My leadership is deeply rooted in faith, guided by the powerful words of Romans 8:31:

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"

This scripture embodies strength, confidence, and divine assurance—a reminder that when we move with purpose, stand on principle, and lead with integrity, nothing can stand in our way.

Brothers, this moment requires strong leadership, a clear vision, and a commitment to honoring our past while advancing our future. The work ahead is not for one man—it is for all of us, and with your support, we will push our chapter forward—TOGETHER!

A chapter is only as strong as its committees and leadership teams. My goal as Vice Polemarch is to create a culture of excellence, teamwork, and engagement that ensures every initiative is driven by purpose and brotherhood.

  • Provide clear guidance on parliamentary rules to foster efficient and fair decision-making.

  • Promote respect and engagement by making sure all brothers understand and follow the chapter’s operational procedures.

Order is not about restricting voices, it’s about creating a space where every voice is heard fairly and equally.

As Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us, there is a season and a purpose for everything. This position is about offering guidance, providing encouragement, and being a source of strength when our brothers need it most.  The Bond that separates us from other fraternities is not just about tradition, it is about the spiritual and moral fabric that holds us together as brothers.

As Chaplain, my goal is to ensure that every brother is reminded of his purpose, his strength, and the greater calling upon his life. Leadership is not just about guiding with words but uplifting through action, prayer, and encouragement.

  • Brotherhood extends beyond the meetings—we must always be willing to support, uplift, and inspire one another.

  • Faith is the foundation of true leadership—when we lead with integrity, we strengthen our chapter from within.

  • Encouragement is essential—every brother faces challenges, and it is our responsibility to remind one another that we are never alone.

A strong chapter is one that is spiritually grounded, and I am committed to ensuring that Germantown(TN) Alumni remains strong in faith and unity.

The true strength of our brotherhood lies in the faith we have in one another—and in the higher calling that brought us together in Kappa Alpha Psi.

Memphis Alumni | Fall ’04 |

The Tre Klub | “Kutlass”

"Know from whence you came. If you know whence you came, there are absolutely no limitations to where you can go." — James Baldwin

Every great organization thrives on its ability to tell its story and to honor its past, celebrate its present, and shape its future. Since my initiation into Memphis Alumni Chapter in Fall 2004, I have understood that history is more than a reflection, it is a roadmap. As a proud member of the Tre Klub, carrying the line name “Kutlass,” I have always been committed to ensuring that our stories are told, our impact is recognized, and our legacy is preserved for future generations.

Now, I seek to serve as Reporter, an appointed position that plays a crucial role in capturing the work, achievements, and spirit of our brotherhood. Through this role, I aim to document our history as we create it, ensuring that every brother, past and present, remains connected to the progress and legacy of the Germantown(TN)  Alumni Chapter.

The Reporter serves as the voice and record-keeper of the chapter, ensuring that our events, milestones, and achievements are properly documented and shared. This position requires attention to detail, consistency, and a deep respect for the legacy of Kappa Alpha Psi.

If appointed, I will:

  •  Document and highlight the chapter’s impact through newsletters, social media, and official reports.

  • Ensure that the work of our brothers is recognized and shared within Kappa Alpha Psi and the broader community.

  • Promote engagement and visibility by strengthening our chapter’s presence through effective communication.

  • Capture our history in real time so that future generations can reflect on and build upon the foundation we lay today.

  • A strong chapter is one that controls its narrative, preserves its achievements, and ensures that every brother’s contribution is valued and remembered.

James Baldwin’s words remind us that understanding where we come from empowers us to move forward without limitation. As Reporter, I will ensure that our history is documented not just as a record but as a source of inspiration for the future.  This position is not just about reporting—it is about uplifting, informing, and ensuring that our chapter’s presence remains strong and impactful.

Our story is still being written. Let’s make sure it’s told the right way!
